The term cardiology is derived from the Greek words “cardia,” which refers to the heart, and “logy,” meaning “study of Cardiology’ – treatment of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. A person responsible for treating heart diseases or cardiovascular diseases is referred to as a cardiologist.
Cardiology is a medical speciality and a branch of internal medicine concerned with disorders of the heart. It deals with diagnosing and treating conditions as congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, electrophysiology, heart failure, and valvular heart disease.
